I get that most people are using these for swimsuit coverups, but I personally have been looking for sheer dusters for my long, straight maxi dresses for a LONG time, and this is IT! Woohoo!! I wear a size 2x on bottom and 1x on top, and this fits perfectly! It IS a little long -- I'm 5'6", and it dragged the ground. I cut 7" off the bottom by using 1. a rotary cutter (never used one before . . . bought it here on Amazon), 2. a healing mat (basically a mat for sewing that protects the surface and has rulers on it -- Amazon has them, but I bought mine from Walmart) and 3. a level as my straight edge/cutting guide. I suppose you COULD use scissors, but because the material is stretchy and I wanted a smooth edge and didn't want to risk a jagged edge with the "chomp" motion of the scissors, I used the rotary cutter. I didn't want to use the belt anyway, so before I cut the coverup itself, I cut open the belt with a pair of scissors to see what kind of edge would be left if I cut the material. This material doesn't look like it's going to unravel much, but if it does I'll take it to a seamstress to finish the edge. But for now, it looks just fine with a straight edge. The finished edge (which it comes with) does give it weight at the bottom, so just know that that goes away when you cut off the finished edge, but I'm totally fine with it flowing around me. I don't have to have the weight at the bottom. I WILL be coming back for more of these!! SO cute and classy long straight maxi dresses and chunky silver jewelry!!
